    APPLICANT: City of Independence, Missouri LOCATION: The project would affect waters of the United States consisting of tributaries to the Little Blue River. The project area is located in segments of two streams; the northern portion extending approximately 668 linear feet along portions of South Leslie Avenue, East Fair Street, and South Pope Avenue, and the southern portion at its crossing under South Logan Avenue and extending downstream for approximately 370 linear feet, Independence, Jackson County, Missouri. Proposed Work: Realignment, enclosure, and stabilization of two segments of urban streams to address issues of storm water control and erosion threatening adjoining properties and structures.

    This Public Notice has been updated with additional information and a map of jurisdictional waters to provide clearer details regarding impacts to Waters of the U.S. APPLICANT: Kansas Department of Transportation LOCATION: The project would affect waters of the United States associated with Posey Creek. The project/review area is located at the junction of US-77 and 22nd Road in Section 30, Township 33 South, Range 4 East; Cowley County, Kansas. PROPOSED WORK: The applicant requests authorization to change the current right-of-way for the realignment of highway US-77, which would include the construction/replacement/relocation of five RCBs.

  • Kansas City District - State of Missouri - Nationwide Permits Reissuance - Request for Comments

    Expiration date: 8/2/2025

    On June 18, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published in the Federal Register its proposal to reissue 56 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and issue one new NWP. One NWP is not proposed for reissuance. Missouri is covered by five Corps Districts (Kansas City, St. Louis, Little Rock, Memphis and Rock Island). The KCD, as the lead district for Missouri, and in coordination with the other four Districts, is seeking comments on the proposed regional conditions and seeking comments on the need for additional regional conditions to help ensure that the adverse environmental effects of activities authorized by the proposed NWPs are no more than minimal, individually and cumulatively.

  • Notice of Availability of the Regional Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods for the Northeast and Southeast Regions

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore, Buffalo, Charleston, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Worth, Galveston, Huntington, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis, Mobile, Nashville, New England, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Savannah, St. Louis, Tulsa, Vicksburg, and Wilmington Districts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 jointly announce the availability of the Regional Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods (Regional SDAMs) for the Northeast and Southeast (dated June 12, 2025). The methods are rapid assessment tools to help distinguish between ephemeral, intermittent, and perennial streamflow at the reach scale for the Northeast and Southeast SDAM Regions.
