Pomme De Terre
Water Control Manual Revision

  • Pomme Reservoir is part of a larger system of dams and reservoirs that provide flood risk management in the Osage River Basin.  Pomme de Terre operates in tandem with Truman Dam and reservoir. The tandem relationship with Truman at times requires releases from Pomme to be reduced to the low flow of 50 cfs. Scheduling the release of water at a reservoir is a delicate balance that requires a high level of communication among staff at reservoirs to manage the impact from rainstorms and the needs of the people using and living around the lakes.
  • The illustration below shows how the dams and lakes in the Osage River Basin interact to regulate water levels and runoff in the basin as well as the to connection to the Lower Missouri River.
