  • Kansas City District - State of Missouri - Nationwide Permits Reissuance - Request for Comments

    On June 18, 2025, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers published in the Federal Register its proposal to reissue 56 existing nationwide permits (NWPs) and issue one new NWP. One NWP is not proposed for reissuance. Missouri is covered by five Corps Districts (Kansas City, St. Louis, Little Rock, Memphis and Rock Island). The KCD, as the lead district for Missouri, and in coordination with the other four Districts, is seeking comments on the proposed regional conditions and seeking comments on the need for additional regional conditions to help ensure that the adverse environmental effects of activities authorized by the proposed NWPs are no more than minimal, individually and cumulatively.

  • Notice of Availability of the Regional Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods for the Northeast and Southeast Regions

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Baltimore, Buffalo, Charleston, Chicago, Detroit, Fort Worth, Galveston, Huntington, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Little Rock, Louisville, Memphis, Mobile, Nashville, New England, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Savannah, St. Louis, Tulsa, Vicksburg, and Wilmington Districts, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Regions 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 jointly announce the availability of the Regional Streamflow Duration Assessment Methods (Regional SDAMs) for the Northeast and Southeast (dated June 12, 2025). The methods are rapid assessment tools to help distinguish between ephemeral, intermittent, and perennial streamflow at the reach scale for the Northeast and Southeast SDAM Regions.

  • Missouri River Commercial Dredging - Renewal for 2026 to 2030

    APPLICANTS: Capital Sand Company, Inc. (NWK-2011-00361); Hermann Sand and Gravel, Inc. (NWK-2011-00362); Holliday Sand and Gravel Company (NWK-2011-00363); Con-Agg of Missouri, LLC (NWK-2011-00364); Limited Leasing Company (NWK-2020-00382); Gateway Dredging and Contracting, LLC (NWK-2020-00383). WATERWAY AND LOCATION: The Dredgers have proposed renewing permits for commercial sand and gravel dredging within five predefined segments of the Lower Missouri River between St. Louis, Missouri and Rulo, Nebraska (approximate River Miles 0-498). PROPOSED WORK: The Dredgers have requested renewal of their Department of the Army (DA) authorizations to dredge sand and gravel for commercial purposes from the Missouri River in the states of Kansas and Missouri.

  • Emergency Processing Procedures for Activities Subject to Executive Order 14156 (National Energy Emergency)

    TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: The purpose of this notice is to advise the public that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division has approved the use of special emergency processing procedures by the Kansas City District in accordance with 33 CFR § 325.2(e)(4) for activities covered by the National Energy Emergency declared in Executive Order (EO) 14156. That EO was issued on January 20, 2025, under the President’s legal authorities, including the National Emergencies Act (50 U.S.C. §§ 1601 et seq.) and 3 USC § 301. These special emergency processing procedures have been approved for activities associated with the identification, siting, production, transportation, refining, and generation of domestic energy sources, including energy infrastructure, that require Department of the Army authorization under Section 10 of the Rivers and Harbors Act of 1899, Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, and/or Section 103 of the Marine Research, Protection, and Sanctuaries Act of 1972, as amended, where there would be an unacceptable hazard to life, a significant loss of property, or an immediate, unforeseen, and significant economic hardship if the action requiring a permit is not undertaken within a time period less than the normal time needed to process the application under standard procedures.
