Public invited to meetings scheduled for upcoming Water Control Manual updates

Updates to Water Control Manuals and reviews of the Water Control Plans for Milford, Tuttle Creek, Perry and Clinton Dams and Reservoirs will be the subject of a series of public meetings held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, from early to mid-August 2023. The public is invited to learn more about how USACE uses the Water Control Manuals at each of its reservoirs, how the updates will be done and to provide their input. The meetings are being publicized together because many people visit more than one reservoir in a year or have interests in water resources encompassing more than one location.

Tuttle Creek Lake closes River Pond Road for scheduled maintenance

Tuttle Creek Lake, near Manhattan, Kansas, will be closing River Pond Road starting June 12, 2023, for scheduled maintenance. Work is scheduled to take place throughout the area from June 12 to July 7, 2023, but is subject to change due to weather. Any changes to the dates of closure will be posted as soon as they are made available by the contractor. Public access to the stilling basin or “tubes” area, as well as shelters three and four, will be impacted during this time.

Tuttle Creek Cove campground to close for maintenance

Tuttle Creek Lake, near Manhattan, Kansas, will be closing Tuttle Creek Cove campground starting April 10, 2023. Work is scheduled to take place throughout the campground from April 10 – May 19, 2023, but is subject to change due to weather. Any changes to the dates of closure will be posted as soon as they are made available by the contractor. The entire park will be closed for public use for the duration of the work, which includes the boat ramp and pedestrian access. Work will also impact Stockdale Campground and portions of Outlet Park, including the stilling basin or “tubes” area. Dates for work on these areas are not yet known but will be posted as soon as they are made available.

Nearly 90,000 tons of rock to be placed on Tuttle Creek Dam through BIL funded project

Nearly 90,000 tons of rock is scheduled to be placed on the face of Tuttle Creek Dam, near Manhattan, Kansas, within the next couple years to repair damages from the 2019 high-water event. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, received funding from both the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, or DRSAA, and from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, or BIL, for the $15.5 million project. Receiving additional funding through the BIL has allowed USACE to deliver the project faster than expected.

Temporary closures announced for upcoming construction activity at Tuttle Creek Lake

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake is announcing that the stilling basin area - locally known as the “tubes” - as well as Outlet Park Shelter #3 is scheduled to be closed to all public access from October 18-22, 2021, depending on weather conditions effecting the planned work.
