  • Tuttle Creek sinkhole repair set for July 16

    The sinkhole that occurred at the Tuttle Creek stilling basin parking lot July 9, 2015 is scheduled to be filled July 16, primarily to eliminate the public hazard associated with the open hole in the parking lot. This measure will allow access to the area below the dam to be reopened to the public. The opening of the area is expected to occur by the end of the day July 17.
  • Smithville Lake Blue-Green Algae Bloom

    The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District is announcing a potentially toxic blue green algae bloom at Smithville Lake. Blue green algae identification tests and toxin tests performed July 1 by USACE staff identified cyanobacteria or blue green algae present in the algae bloom near Camp Branch with low levels of algae toxin detected.

  • Corps to host public information workshop for Rathbun Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rathbun Lake will host two workshops Tuesday, July 21, at the Rathbun Regional Water Association administrative office, 16166 Hwy J29, Centerville, Iowa, to present the Draft Environmental Assessment including the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact on the Draft Revised Water Control Manual.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District is monitoring and evaluating a non-emergency condition that occurred below Tuttle Creek Dam at approximately 5:00 p.m. Thursday, July 9 when a sinkhole developed.
