  • Public invited to meetings scheduled for upcoming Water Control Manual updates

    Updates to Water Control Manuals and reviews of the Water Control Plans for Melvern, Pomona and Hillsdale Dams and Reservoirs will be the subject of a series of public meetings held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in March 2024. Congress provided funding and direction to USACE districts across the country do make administrative updates to the Water Control Manuals, to evaluate Water Control Plans and update as necessary and include a drought contingency plan for managing water releases from reservoirs during drought conditions.
  • Public scoping meeting to be held for Hillsdale Lake Master Plan revision

    Officials will hold a public scoping meeting to discuss the Master Plan revision for Hillsdale Lake on February 29, 2024. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun the process of revising the Hillsdale Lake Master Plan, which was last updated in March 1978. The revision will bring the Master Plan up to date with current policy and regulations, land usage or designations, as well as consider current and projected visitation or recreational trends.
  • Corps of Engineers update on Osage River Basin reservoir operations

    Conditions in the Osage and Missouri River Basins continue to present challenges for releasing water from the three Kansas reservoirs and three Missouri reservoirs, in the Osage River Basin, which are holding high water levels behind their dams: Pomona, Melvern and Hillsdale lakes in Kansas; Stockton, Pomme de Terre and Truman lakes in Missouri.
  • Hillsdale Lake to undergo periodic inspection

    Paola, Kan., – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake will be conducting a periodic dam inspection on March 23-27. The outlet area located below the dam will be closed to the public. The area will be restricted due to safety concerns and the need to complete the inspection in a timely manner to reduce cost.
  • HILLSDALE LAKE - National Public Lands Day - Fish Habitat Project

    On Sept. 28-29, the Corps of Engineers and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism will be constructing fish habitat.
