• Registration open for special permit archery hunt at Perry Lake

    PERRY, Kan. — The U.S Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake announce the application opening for the annual Special Archery Hunt Sept. 16 – Dec. 31, 2019. Applicants must apply by Sept. 3, 2019. This event is limited to eight hunters.
  • Hillsdale Lake cleanup event scheduled

    HILLSDALE, Kan.— The U.S Army Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake are teaming up with National Public Lands Day and Hillsdale State Park to host a Hillsdale Lake Cleanup Event on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 8:30 a.m. Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate and can register by contacting the Corps of Engineers at Hillsdale Lake.
  • Corps at Rathbun Lake to conduct a fall pulse in late September

    In 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers updated the Chariton River Water Regulation Manual and incorporated new adaptive water management strategies benefiting interests both upstream and downstream of the Rathbun Lake dam. One of the adaptive water management strategies in the new manual allows for a ‘fall pulse’ or increased water release for a short duration from the lake. This fall pulse gives the Corps the ability to increase water in support of downstream wildlife management goals on state and privately owned lands.
  • Notice of confirmed harmful algae bloom at Rathbun Lake

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rathbun Lake is actively responding to a potentially toxic blue-green algae bloom with site-specific sampling and temporary beach closures. Algal toxin data from samples collected on August 7, 2019, from Buck Creek and Island View beaches have tested positive for the algal toxin microcystin in concentrations exceeding Iowa Department of Natural Resources state beach advisory threshold of 20 micrograms per liter of microcystin.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awards design-build contract to JE Dunn Construction Company for the Fort Leonard Wood Hospital Replacement project

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has awarded JE Dunn Construction Company, 1001 Locust St, Kansas City, Mo. 64106, a $295,974,160 design-build contract for the construction of Hospital Replacement facilities that will be built on Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. As the construction agent for Defense Health Agency, the Kansas City District is responsible for the design, construction and delivery of these facilities.
