  • 2024-003-CW- Lower Osage River Ecosystem Restoration GI Study, Draft Report

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District (USACE-NWK), has prepared a Draft Integrated Feasibility Study Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) and associated unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1968, as amended, for the proposed restoration of degraded aquatic habitat in the Lower Osage River.

  • 2024-002-CW Lower Osage River Ecosystem Restoration 1135 Study

    Expiration date: 8/27/2024

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District (USACE-NWK), has prepared a Draft Integrated Feasibility Study Report and Environmental Assessment (EA) and associated unsigned Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1968, as amended, for the proposed restoration of degraded aquatic habitat. The Draft Integrated Report and EA was prepared to assess and document potential effects to the human and natural environment of the project’s Proposed Action. The USACE has made a preliminary determination that the Proposed Action would not result in significant degradation to the environment and therefore supports preparation of a Draft FONSI. The Draft Integrated Report and EA, Draft FONSI, and supporting information are provided with issuance of this Public Notice to initiate a 30-day public review and comment period. Appendices are available upon request.

  • Notice of Third Five-Year Review for Former Kirksville Air Force Station

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), as the lead agency, is initiating the Third Five-Year Review at the former Kirksville Air Force Station (KAFS). The Five-Year Review Team includes the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) and other local agencies.

  • Draft Report for the Kansas River Reservoirs Flood and Sediment Study (Watershed Study) Available

    Expiration date: 1/15/2024

    **Public comment period has been extended to January 15, 2023** The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District (USACE-NWK), along with the Kansas Water Office and Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, has prepared the Draft Report for the Kansas River Reservoirs Flood and Sediment Study (Watershed Study). The Draft Report and supporting information are provided with issuance of this Public Notice on 6 November 2023 to initiate the 30-day public review and comment period. The comment period was extended on 17 November 2023 to close on 15 January 2024. This Public Notice and project related information are being provided to solicit public input on the Draft Report and the proposed recommendations. All comments will be accepted and made part of the public record. The USACE-NWK will consider all pertinent comments in preparing final documentation for completion of the Watershed Study through signature of the Final Report by the USACE Northwestern Division Commander.

  • Lower Turkey Creek Natural Reach

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District (USACE) has prepared a Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA) and associated Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) as part of the Turkey Creek Flood Damage Reduction Project. The Draft SEA was prepared to assess and document potential effects to the human and natural environment of the supplemental project’s Recommended Plan. The USACE has made a preliminary determination that the Recommended Plan would not result in significant degradation to the environment and therefore supports preparation of a Draft FONSI. The Draft SEA, Draft FONSI, and supporting information are provided with issuance of this Public Notice to initiate a 30-day public review and comment period. This Public Notice and project related information are being provided to solicit public input on the proposed action. Any interested party is invited to submit to this office written facts or objections relative to the proposed project, both favorable and unfavorable in nature. All comments will be accepted and made part of the public record. Copies of all comments, including names and addresses of commenters, may be provided to applicants upon request. The USACE will consider all pertinent comments in preparing final documentation for completion of the NEPA process through signature of the FONSI by the USACE Kansas City District Commander.
