The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Kansas City District, prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) and a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Plant Genetic Resources Unit (PGRU) Poultry Laboratory Project. Both documents were prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, and existing USDAARS policy and regulations. The USDA-ARS EA and FONSI document the potential environmental effects associated with construction and operation of one stand-alone building, approximately 4,675 square feet, with supporting utilities in Columbia, Missouri on University of Missouri property. The purpose of the project is to provide a poultry research facility for the PGRU to execute their mission in livestock gene editing research. This facility would be designed to accommodate research for poultry through all life stages. The new poultry facility would meet the USDA’s research needs for development and advancement in the Livestock Gene Editing Research Program.
