  • Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake host Eagle Day January 5, 2019

    MANHATTAN, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Tuttle Creek Lake will host Tuttle Creek Eagle Day, Saturday, January 5, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The event begins at the fire station located on the corner of Denison and Kimball Avenues in Manhattan, Kan.

  • Project team for the KC-46A facility at McConnell Air Force base wins Air Force award for excellence

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The project team responsible for the design, construction and quality control of new hangar / maintenance facilities for the recently fielded KC-46A Pegasus air tanker won top honors from AFCEC – the Air Force Civil Engineering Center. The team, including Ben Davis, the Kansas City District project manager, was recognized at a ceremony in San Antonio November 14, 2018.

  • Corps of Engineers at Smithville Lake announce limited access to Jerry Litton Visitor Center

    SMITHVILLE, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Smithville Lake announce limited public access into the Jerry Litton Visitor Center due to construction projects scheduled November 12, 2018 through March 31, 2019. All Visitor Center exhibits will be closed. The reception area of the visitor center will remain open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. for maps and general information.

  • Corps urges hunters and outdoor enthusiasts to use caution this fall

    Whether your hunting season started Labor Day weekend or you are still awaiting your first opportunity to venture out, hunter safety is a must. First, let’s take a moment to think about your favorite hunting spot. This may include a short, 4-minute boat ride across a small cove to a grove of flooded willows or a hike back in to a small opening tucked into the timber that are sure to draw an early morning shooting opportunity.   • Army Corps of Engineers waives day use fees at recreation areas in observance of Veterans Day

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced it will waive day use fees at its more than 2,800 USACE-operated recreation areas nationwide in observance of Veterans Day, Nov. 11 and 12. The waiver covers fees for boat launch ramps and swimming beaches. The waiver does not apply to camping and camping-related services, or fees for specialized facilities (group picnic shelters) and events. Other agencies that manage recreation areas on USACE lands are encouraged, but not required, to offer the waiver in the areas that they manage.
