  • USACE and MDNR to meet with public to provide update on Holt/Doniphan County Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are hosting a public meeting to update the citizens of Holt County, Missouri, and Doniphan County, Kansas, about progress on the flood risk management study since April. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8. It will be held at the Loess Hills Lodge, 406 State Street, Mound City, Missouri.

    Officials will hold a public meeting for the Lower Missouri River Holt County spin-off study on April 1, 2024, in Mound City, Missouri. The meeting, which will be hosted by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the study, a status update and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri River Holt County and Doniphan County spin-off study.
  • Public meeting scheduled for Holt County, Missouri, and Doniphan County, Kansas, Lower Missouri River Basin spin-off study

    The Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will hold a public meeting about the Holt County, Missouri, and Doniphan County, Kansas, spin-off study on Monday, June 26, 2023. The spin-off study is part of the larger Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also known as the system plan, which was ordered after the region experienced three devastating floods in 1993, 2011 and 2019. The 2019 flood caused billions of dollars in damages to agriculture and infrastructure in communities in the region. Repair costs to levee infrastructure in the Lower Missouri River Basin in 2019 added up to approximately $1.2 billion.
  • Cost share agreement signed for feasibility study in Holt County, Missouri

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, and the State of Missouri partnered to sign a Feasibility Cost Share Agreement for a feasibility study on the area of river miles 515 to 450, across the river from Holt County on Nov. 15, 2022, in Mound City Missouri. This signing signified the first formal step in the partnership for the Holt County FSCA Missouri River Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, which is a spin-off of the Lower Missouri River Basin System Plan, a larger study that involves four states – Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.

    The Kansas City District continues to prioritize levee rehabilitation to repair damages incurred during 2019 historic flooding throughout the region. We are also committed to providing on-site quality assurance to awarded construction contracts all while practicing social distancing as long as necessary.
