U.S. Army to discuss cleanup at the former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant

The U.S. Army will be hosting a public meeting on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at De Soto City Hall, De Soto, Kansas. This meeting will be hosted by the U.S. Army with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District in attendance. The public meeting will provide the community with the latest information on the cleanup of the former Sunflower Army Ammunition Plant and will provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions about the cleanup.

McConnell holds ribbon cutting for $267 million in KC-46A facilities

MCCONNELL AIR FORCE BASE, Kan. — McConnell held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. to signify completing the preparation for the arrival of the KC-46A Pegasus. After three years, 16 projects, more than 23 million pounds of steel and $267 million, McConnell stands ready to accept the KC-46A and pave the way for the future of air refueling. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, oversaw the construction and contracting.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches new water safety campaign: 'Life Jackets Worn... Nobody Mourns'

Every year thousands of people in the United States mourn the loss of loved ones who could have survived if they had been wearing a life jacket while spending time on or near our nation’s waters. To heighten awareness for the use of life jackets, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) recently launched a new water safety campaign titled “Life Jackets Worn…Nobody Mourns.”
