  • Corps schedules public meetings for new Grand River basin study

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has partnered with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Missouri Department of Conservation to examine issues leading to sedimentation, flooding, log jams and impacts to habitat in the Lower Grand River watershed.
  • Zebra Mussels found in Tuttle Creek Reservoir

    MANHATTAN, Kan. – The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism has confirmed the presence of zebra mussels in Tuttle Creek Reservoir. The reservoir encompasses areas in Riley, Pottawatomie and Marshall counties. An alert fisherman found a rock with one adult zebra mussel attached and reported it to KDWPT staff at the Tuttle Creek State Park office. A subsequent search by KDWPT fisheries staff verified the presence of additional zebra mussels. Twenty-nine Kansas lakes are now confirmed to have zebra mussels. Other reservoirs in northeast Kansas with zebra mussel infestations include Milford, Clinton, Perry, Pomona, John Redmond and Melvern lakes.
  • Stakeholders experience Corps Civil Works projects on river trip

    WASHINGTON, Mo. — Stakeholders, customers and elected officials were guests of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, for the annual Missouri River tour Aug. 16. The purpose of the trip aboard the district’s barge is to provide a first-hand look at the Civil Works projects the district builds and maintains along the Missouri River and to receive questions and comments from stakeholders.
  • Corps prepares for dam inspection at Perry Lake

    PERRY, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Perry Lake will dewater the water control structures to perform a safety inspection beginning Aug. 17 through Sept. 1. The Outlet Park on both sides of the spillway will be closed to the public throughout this inspection. Dam safety inspections are a vital part of the Corps mission. Formal engineering inspections are performed every five years.
  • Waterfowl Blind Permit Drawing Scheduled at Kanopolis Lake

    MARQUETTE, Kan. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake announce the annual waterfowl blind permit drawing. The event will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017 at the Kanopolis Lake Information Center located at 105 Riverside Drive, Marquette, KS, 67464.
