Hunting tips at Tuttle Creek Lake

The peak of hunting season is upon us and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District wish to help visitors prepare for their trips to Tuttle Creek Lake which offers nearly 20,000 huntable acres. Visitors are encouraged to prepare in advance and observe all regulations for our shared safety and protection of natural resources.

Whether your hunting season started Labor Day weekend or you are still awaiting your first opportunity to venture out, hunter safety is a must. First, let’s take a moment to think about your favorite hunting spot. This may include a short, 4-minute boat ride across a small cove to a grove of flooded willows or a hike back in to a small opening tucked into the timber that are sure to draw an early morning shooting opportunity. The recently established 3-mile trail leads you on a meandering hike through mature oak timber that opens up to a breathtaking view of Truman Lake from a rock cliff 300 feet above Truman Lake.
