  • KC Levees breaks ground on $529 million project

    The Kansas Citys Levees project broke ground Wednesday at the Central Industrial District Levee Unit, marking the start of levee raising phase of the $529 million project, set to raise over 17 miles of existing levees and floodwalls up five feet. The Kansas City District, Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City KS, City of Kansas City, Mo. Government, Lane Construction and other project partners voiced their excitement to "move dirt” and work together.

  • Kansas City District awards contracts totaling $17 million for repair of pump stations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, awarded two contracts totaling $17M to Supplied Industrial Solutions of Granite City, Illinois to complete repairs and modifications to ten pump stations along the Armourdale and Central Industrial District Levee Units. Due to diligent work by all team members, these contracts were awarded early, thus meeting a USACE goal to start and finish projects faster.
  • Corps of Engineers announces first contract award for the Kansas Citys Levees Program

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, awarded a $33.3 million design-build contract to Michels Corporation of Brownsville, Wis. The Corps of Engineers looks forward to partnering with Michels Corporation for the design and construction to replace and, or modify three pump stations within the Argentine Levee Unit. Project design will begin in October 2019 and construction is anticipated to commence in the fall of 2020.
