WARSAW, Mo., — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harry S. Truman Lake and The Masonic Lodge #653 will host the 27th Annual Truman Lake Managed Deer Hunt for people with physical disabilities Nov. 5 and 6, 2016, at Shawnee Bend and Berry Bend parks.
The hunt is limited to people with non-ambulatory or semi-ambulatory disabilities, or those permanently confined to wheelchairs, walkers, canes or crutches. Using a random drawing for those who met the selection criteria, 20 individuals were selected for the managed deer hunt.
In order to maintain a high level of safety during this year’s hunt, camping at Berry Bend Equestrian and Berry Bend South is not permitted, public use in Shawnee Bend Park will be limited and The Shawnee Bend Boat Ramp will remain open for public use. Archery hunting is prohibited at Shawnee Bend Park during the hunt. Additionally, the Shawnee Bend Golf Course and Club House will be closed Nov 5 and 6.
