Missouri River Implementation Committee to meet in La Vista, NE

OMAHA, NE - The Missouri River Recovery Implementation Committee (MRRIC) will hold its 34th meeting August 9-11, 2016 in La Vista, NE. Members of the public will have an opportunity during each daily session to address the Committee and the lead federal agencies (the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service)) – regarding the Missouri River Recovery Program (MRRP).

The meeting will be held at the Courtyard by Marriott, Omaha-La Vista, 12560 Westport Parkway, La Vista, NE 68128, beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, and concluding at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 11. The MRRIC meeting agenda can be found online at www.MRRIC.org. All meeting sessions are open to the public.

At this meeting, MRRIC will learn more about recent progress on the Missouri River Recovery Management Plan, including science and governance components of the Adaptive Management Plan; the process for Government-to-Government consultation with Missouri River Basin Native American Tribes; and the preferred alternative to be included in the Draft Environmental Impact Statement. 

The Committee will continue to engage with the Independent Science Advisory Panel and the Independent Social and Economic Technical Review Panel on the scientific, adaptive management, and socio-economic components of the developing Management Plan. 

The Committee will also discuss recommendations regarding the MRRP 2017 Work Plan.

MRRIC is a 70-member committee comprised of stakeholders and representatives of Tribal, state and federal governments throughout the Missouri River Basin. This committee provides recommendations to federal agencies on the current and future activities of the MRRP. The Committee makes its substantive recommendations by consensus.

The committee, established in the fall of 2008, meets quarterly at various locations throughout the Missouri River Basin. The next quarterly MRRIC meeting will be held Nov. 15-17 in Omaha.
