  • Partners and stakeholders join Kansas City District on annual Missouri River barge inspection

    A barge inspection of the Lower Missouri River Basin was held on Aug. 28, 2024, in Kansas City, Missouri. The annual event was hosted by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The barge inspection is an opportunity for Missouri River partners and stakeholders to view various Kansas City District Civil Works projects on a segment of the river. Subject matter experts from the district were present to discuss the Missouri River Recovery Program, Operations and Maintenance for Navigation, the Lower Missouri River Basin studies and the Kansas Citys Levees Civil Works project. Guest speakers included the Missouri Department of Transportation and Water One.
  • Team holds meetings across the region for Lower Missouri River system plan

    Officials will hold a series of public meeting for the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also known as the system plan, throughout the region in April. The meetings, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the study, a status update, input on reach measures, flow and stage frequency analysis update and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study.
  • Results posted: USACE to hold webinar for Missouri River flow frequency analysis

    The public is invited to attend a webinar July 19, 2023, from noon – 1:00 p.m. CST by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The Kansas City and Omaha districts have completed the updates to the flow frequency data on the Lower Missouri River. The focus of the review is for partners in flood preparedness and response to learn more about the updates and how to use the new data.
  • Public meeting on study to improve flood resiliency around the Missouri River near Jefferson City

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partner, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, are hosting a public outreach meeting on Monday, May 22, 2023, to discuss flood resiliency near Missouri River mile marker 142. The meeting will be held at the Conference Center, Lewis and Clark State Office Building, 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
  • Cost share agreement signed for feasibility study in Holt County, Missouri

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, and the State of Missouri partnered to sign a Feasibility Cost Share Agreement for a feasibility study on the area of river miles 515 to 450, across the river from Holt County on Nov. 15, 2022, in Mound City Missouri. This signing signified the first formal step in the partnership for the Holt County FSCA Missouri River Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, which is a spin-off of the Lower Missouri River Basin System Plan, a larger study that involves four states – Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.
