In response to declining lake levels, Harlan County Lake officials are temporarily closing the Methodist Cove Boat Ramp to ensure public safety.

As of today, the lake elevation stands at 1937.40 feet, down from last week’s elevation of 1938.03 feet. With water levels continuing to drop, the ramp is no longer safely operable. At this time, there is no set timeline for reopening.

Temporary closure signs have been placed at the boat ramp entrance, and the public is encouraged to check the Kansas City District Lakes webpage for the most up-to-date information on lake access and closures.

“We understand this may be disappointing news to our lake visitors, but our top priority is ensuring safe recreational access, and we’re closely monitoring conditions to determine when it will be safe to reopen.”

Updates regarding Methodist Cove Boat Ramp, low water ramp alternatives, dredge replacement and irrigation releases will be posted on the Harlan County Lake Facebook page or Kansas City District websites. So please stay tuned.
