• Corps Chief of Civil Works and Emergency Operations meets with local sponsors and stakeholders

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Deputy Commanding General for Civil Works and Emergency Operations, Maj. Gen. Michael J. Walsh met Wednesday with multiple local levee sponsors, business owners and stakeholders to discuss civil works and infrastructure issues in the KC metro area.
  • Public Hearing held on Jameson Island Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District (Corps) and the Missouri Clean Water Commission (Commission) held a joint public hearing on Monday in regards to the Jameson Island Shallow Water Habitat Restoration Project at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) office in Jefferson City, Mo. to a crowd of approximately 120 people.
  • KDHE issues blue-green algae advisory for Milford Lake

    The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) samples recreational bodies of water for cyanobacteria, commonly called blue-green algae, when the agency is alerted to a potential algae bloom. When harmful algal blooms are present, KDHE, in cooperation with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and other lake managers where appropriate, responds by informing the public of these conditions. Based upon sampling results and established health risk levels, Milford Lake is currently under an “Advisory” status.
  • Corps continues repair of rock structures along Missouri River

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District continues to make repairs through the Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project to rock structures along the Missouri River from damages caused by the 2011 flood. The district has received more $31 million of Disaster Relief Appropriations Act funds to repair the rock structures. This is in addition to more than $45 million DRAA dollars already received to repair damaged levees within the district.
  • Corps to hold joint public hearing on Jameson Island Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District has announced plans to hold a joint public hearing with the Missouri Clean Water Commission on the Jameson Island Shallow Water Habitat Project. The hearing will be held on June 11 at the Department of Natural Resources at 1101 Riverside Drive, Jefferson City, Mo., in the LaCharrette/Nightingale Creek Conference Room beginning at 9 a.m.
