The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

Public Notice: Upper Turkey Creek Programmatic Agreement Development

PROJECT INFORMATION: The United States Corps of Engineers (USACE), in partnership with the City of Merriam, is planning a flood Risk Management Project in downtown Merriam, Johnson County, Kansas. As part of its obligations under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, USACE is now developing a Programmatic Agreement (PA) in consultation with the Kansas State Historic Preservation Office, Shawnee Tribe, Osage Nation, Pawnee Nation, and Kaw Nation. The PA will outline how USACE will identify, evaluate, and resolve adverse effects to historic properties that may be effected by the project. USACE also invites individuals and organizations with a demonstrated interest in the undertaking, and other members of the public to participate in the PA consultation process. All requests to participate must be received no later than December 12, 2025.
