The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, has coordinated with the Missouri State Historic Preservation Office to prepare a draft Programmatic Agreement in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act for the Grand River Feasibility Study. In doing so, USACE invited the participation of the Advisory Council on Historic Resources, the Missouri Alliance for Historic Preservation, and 18 Federally-recognized Native American tribes. The draft Grand River Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment was previously released for public review and comment on October 8, 2019 and the comment period closed on November 20, 2019. The overall purpose of the feasibility study is to identify a plan that will achieve ecosystem restoration benefits within the Lower Grand River sub-basin. This draft Programmatic Agreement is being made available for public review and comment for 30 days, beginning on December 13, 2019 and closing on January 13, 2020. Comments on the draft Programmatic Agreement should be sent to Tim Meade, Senior District Archeologist and Tribal Liaison, at Timothy.M.Meade@usace.army.mil.
