Emerald Ash Borer Warning

Iowa is now considered a “Quarantined” state for the Emerald Ash Borer (EAB).  EAB kills all ash tree species and is considered to be one of the most destructive tree pests in North America.  Park visitors are cautioned not to transport firewood across county lines in Iowa or across state lines since the movement of firewood throughout Iowa or to other states poses the greatest threat to quickly spread EAB even further.  Do your part to help prevent the spread of EAB and other woodland pests.  Please consider buying firewood locally near the park you are visiting and burn it all during your stay.

To slow the spread of the EAB to our county we are asking Rathbun Lake visitors to:

·         Purchase firewood from a local source.

·         If you must bring your own firewood, don’t leave any firewood at your campsite when your visit is over.

By taking simple steps now we hope to slow the spread if this invasive pest.  -Thank You
