  • The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will temporarily close Cedar Run ATV trails at Harlan County Lake, Nebraska

    Harlan County Lake, NE -- The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, will temporarily close Cedar Run ATV trails at Harlan County Lake, Nebraska beginning May 23, 2025. USACE is currently managing seasonal staffing and resource limitations that affect its ability to safely operate and maintain the trails following damage from storms and wildfires. This closure for Cedar Run ATV Trails, alongside existing closures of camping at North and South Outlet Park are being made to ensure visitor safety, protect environmental resources, and sustain critical dam operations.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers launches nationwide Recreation Operational Status website

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has launched its Recreation Operational Status website to keep the public informed about the operational status of USACE recreation areas nationwide. The public can visit the website at https://corpslakes.erdc.dren.mil/visitors/status.cfm?state=Map and click on any state for the current overall status of a recreation area and for the status of campgrounds, boat ramps and beaches owned and operated by USACE within the area. The site will be regularly updated with any status changes.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers encourages use of the Regulatory Request System for an improved permitting experience

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers continues to encourage the public to use the Regulatory Request System (RRS) for an improved permitting experience. RRS, launched Jan. 31, 2024, provides a straightforward, transparent process for the timely submittal and review of permit requests. “USACE continues to make improvements to the Regulatory Request System to enhance its functionality and make the permitting process easier and faster for the public,” said Mr. Stephen L. Hill, chief, Operations and Regulatory. “We are encouraging greater use of RRS because this automated system also increases the efficiency of our regulatory staff when making permitting decisions.

  • Outdoor open house planned for former Nebraska Ordnance Plant

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, will host an outdoor open house from 4:30-5:15 p.m. and a site bus tour will occur from 5:15 p.m. to approximately 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, for the former Nebraska Ordnance Plant. The open house will be at the main groundwater treatment plant in Ashland, Nebraska located at the junction of County Road 6 and County Road F.
