  • Closures at Perry Lake due to high water

    PERRY, Kan.,— Due to the heavy rainfall, Perry Lake is currently experiencing several major closures. All Corps boat ramps are currently closed due to high water. Rock Creek park remains entirely closed as water is over several of the roads. Slough Creek Campground, Longview Campground and Old Town Campground continue to experience significant closures as well.
  • Corps reports above normal May runoff in the Missouri River Basin; drought conditions improve in upper basin

    Omaha, Neb. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Missouri River Basin Water Management Division reports May runoff in the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City, Iowa, was 3.7 million acre feet (MAF), 110 percent of normal. The 2015 runoff forecast has increased to 22.5 MAF, 89 percent of normal. Average annual runoff is 25.2 MAF.

  • Water expected to rise at Tuttle Creek Lake

    MANHATTAN, Kan.— Due to large amounts of rainfall, the water level in Tuttle Creek Lake is expected to rise substantially over the coming weekend. The increase in storm waters from the rivers flowing into Tuttle Creek Lake will likely result in a 15 to 20 foot rise in the lake by early next week. The dam is safe and can handle the increased flows.
