  • USACE and Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources sign agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on Osage River

    On May 13, 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources signed an agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on the Osage River near Brockman Springs Road. This agreement is under Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986. The feasibility, design and implementation phases will be completed over the next five years.
  • Air Force and USACE break ground for new vehicle maintenance facility at Whiteman Air Force Base

    A group of Air Force and Army leaders joined with construction professionals to mark the groundbreaking for the new vehicle maintenance facility at Whiteman Air Force Base near Knob Noster, Mo., Feb. 16, 2022. With airmen and civilians providing maintenance for the growing fleet of support vehicles at the base in facilities – some constructed during the build up to World War II – the Air Force funded the new consolidated facility which will greatly increase safety and efficiency. The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, serve as the construction agent for this military construction project. L.S. Black Constructors, of Saint Paul, Minn., is the prime contractor.
  • Kansas City District holds change of command ceremony

    - In historic military tradition, command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District transferred today from Col. William C. Hannan, Jr., to Col. Travis J. Rayfield. In a ceremony at the Memorial Hall Kansas City, Kan., Rayfield received the traditional guidon from Hannan through Brig. Gen. Peter Helmlinger, the commander of the Northwestern Division, thus assuming command of the district.
  • Kansas City District invites public to Virtual Change of Command ceremony June 11th

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District, will conduct a change of command ceremony to recognize the arrival of Col. Travis J. Rayfield as its new commander. The ceremony will be live-streamed on www.facebook.com/usace.kcd Friday, June 11, at 10 a.m. Due to limited seating, the invite is for virtual attendance only. Rayfield will assume command from Col. William C. Hannan, Jr., who has commanded the district since July 2019.
