  • USACE and Missouri Dept. of Natural Resources sign agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on Osage River

    On May 13, 2022, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources signed an agreement to begin aquatic ecosystem restoration on the Osage River near Brockman Springs Road. This agreement is under Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986. The feasibility, design and implementation phases will be completed over the next five years.

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is responding to a toxic blue-green algae bloom at Pomme de Terre Lake with site-specific sampling and posting lakes with public health advisory signs as recommended by state health agencies.
  • Chief of Engineers signs Grand River Basin Study – on to Congress

    Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, USACE Commanding General and 55th U.S. Army Chief of Engineers, signed the Chief’s Report for the Grand River Basin Study on November 19, 2020. The signing of the report progresses the project to Congress for authorization. “I am grateful for the hard work of the entire team and for the outstanding partnership with the State of Missouri, other federal agencies, and the local communities in this area. The partnership is what made this important study successful. This is a great example of improving habitats and the environment while also increasing flood protection in an area. Ultimately, it will greatly benefit the people, the economy, the environment, and the many areas of the Grand River Basin,” said Col. Bill Hannan, commander, Kansas City District.
  • Increased fall releases from Rathbun Lake cancelled

    In response to concerns over ongoing levee assessments and repairs along the lower Chariton River and the Missouri River, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District will not conduct the previously announced increased releases from Rathbun Lake.
  • Eagle Day at Stockton Lake Jan. 12 - Corps lake in southwest Missouri

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stockton Lake near Stockton, Mo. will host an Eagle Day with partners on Jan. 12, 2019. At the beginning of each year, the Stockton Lake Association, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, and the Missouri Department of Conservation combine forces to bring the community a spectacle of nature’s beauty known as Eagle Day. The 25th annual Eagle Day will be held on January 12th, 2019 at 10:00 a.m.
