Special Permit Archery Hunt Scheduled at Clinton Lake

Applicants have until 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 to submit applications for the Clinton Lake Special Permit Archery Hunt. Applicants will be randomly chosen and allowed to hunt in assigned, designated areas from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.

LAWRENCE, Kan.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake announce the opening of the application process for the annual Special Archery Hunt at Bloomington and Rockhaven parks. Applicants will be randomly chosen and allowed to hunt in assigned, designated areas from Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2016.

Selected applicants may have another hunter accompany them to the assigned area. Each hunter will be required to carry a special permit issued by the Corps of Engineers. All state and federal hunting regulations and statutes apply. Applications are due to the Clinton Lake Visitor Center by 1:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.

This is a special permit, archery only event. Hunting is not usually allowed in park areas at Clinton Lake. The Corps of Engineers hosts this annual hunt in areas that are closed to public hunting to prevent overpopulation of deer.
