MANHATTAN, Kan. — The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas
City District at Tuttle Creek Lake will host an open house to review seasonal
plans for lake elevations at the Fire Department Headquarters Training Center,
2000 Denison Avenue, Manhattan, Kansas, May 4 from 7-8 p.m.
To broaden understanding and provide opportunity for
public input, the informal open house will provide interactive stations to
describe how and why these plans are authorized, highlight the major benefits
to fish and wildlife and recreation and provide opportunity for one-on-one
interaction with staff from the Corps and the Kansas Water Office.
To enhance on-lake fish and wildlife and recreation
benefits, many Corps’ lake projects follow these plans to operate either a
little above or below normal pool level on a seasonal basis. The plans at
Tuttle Creek Lake are cooperatively agreed upon between the Corps, the Kansas
Water Office and the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism.
Comments and questions regarding the open house should be
directed to the Tuttle Creek Lake project office at (785) 539-8511.
