Repairs on slope of Sterett Creek Dike

Published March 14, 2016

Warsaw, Mo.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harry S. Truman Dam will begin non-emergency repairs to an earthen slide on the downstream slope of Sterett Creek Dike.

The slide at Sterett Creek Dike was discovered in late December 2015 following six inches of rain. The saturated conditions are believed to have caused the slide. Harry S. Truman Dam project staff and geotechnical engineers from the Kansas City District Office monitor the dike routinely and have increased monitoring of the embankment since the slide occurred. It is anticipated the slide may take two to three weeks to repair.
