REPUBLICAN CITY, Neb.,—  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harlan County Lake is preparing for a closure of the dam to allow the contractor, OCCI, to continue work on the dam spillway. During the periods of June 15 through June 18 and June 24 through July 2, both lanes of the dam may be closed from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily and traffic will be directed to take the designated detour.

From 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. during these dates, one lane of the dam will be open. The open lane will be restricted to vehicles 8’-6” wide or less. During one lane closures, timed traffic signals will be installed on both ends of the spillway bridge. The signals will be monitored to make adjustments to the timing if needed based on traffic flow and the length of time it takes traffic to clear the one lane area.

The public is advised that weather conditions can delay work requiring additional time to complete the work.

Information regarding construction activities can be obtained at www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/HarlanCountyLake.aspx.
