REPUBLICAN CITY, Neb.,— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Harlan County Lake is preparing for a closure of the dam to allow the contractor, OCCI Construction of Fulton, Mo., to begin the Tainter Gate Repair Project. During the period from March 2 to March 13, both lanes of the dam will be closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and traffic will be directed to take the designated detour.
From 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. during these dates, one lane of the dam will be open. The open lane will be restricted to vehicles 8’-6” wide or less. During one lane closures, timed traffic signals will be installed on both ends of the spillway bridge. The signals will be monitored to make adjustments to the timing if needed based on traffic flow and the length of time it takes traffic to clear the one lane area.
Information regarding construction activities can be obtained at www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/HarlanCountyLake.aspx.
