Published Feb. 4, 2014

OMAHA, Neb.— The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwestern Division, will host a conference call on Tuesday, Feb. 11, to keep basin stakeholders informed about current basin conditions, weather forecasts, and the Corps’ planned operation of the Mainstem Reservoir System.

The Corps will continue to host a conference call each month through July 2014. The call is intended for Congressional delegations, Tribes, State Governments, county and local officials and the media.

The tentative schedule for this year’s calls is as follows:

Thursday, Jan. 9
Tuesday, Feb. 11
Tuesday, March 11
Tuesday, April 8
Thursday, May 8
Tuesday, June 10
Tuesday, July 8

Due to the limited number of lines available for the teleconference and the geographic area impacted by this basin update, we ask that media not make the call-in number public. To do so will limit our and your capability to disseminate the information as widely as possible. Also, where possible, please call in with members of your staff as a group, so all interested parties have an opportunity to participate.

The general format of the call will include an update from the Climate Prediction Center (CPC), which develops long-range weather forecasts for the Missouri River Basin. The Missouri River Basin Water Management Division will follow with a report of the conditions on the ground, the current runoff forecast and reservoir release plans.

The press conference will be recorded in its entirety and made available to media outlets for news broadcasts. The audio file also will be posted to the Omaha District’s website and Facebook page following each call page and is available as a free podcast in iTunes.
