LAWRENCE, Kan.—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Clinton Lake, in partnership with the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism and the Kaw Valley Sportsmen Association, will host its seventh Annual Youth Turkey Hunt at Clinton Lake on April 6, 2013.
Nine lucky hunters between the ages of 10 and 16 will be drawn from the pool of applicants and assigned an area which is open to hunting only for this special hunt. The Clinton Lake Youth Turkey Hunt encourages these young hunters to get outdoors and instills in them the ethics of hunting. In addition, experienced guides will be available to each youth hunter which would like the extra help and education on turkey hunting.
All hunters will be required to carry a special hunt permit issued by the Corps and be assisted by at least one adult mentor. All hunting must be in compliance with Kansas statutes.
Applications are available at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Visitor Center at Clinton Lake or online at www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/DistrictLakes/ClintonLake/Hunting.aspx. The applications are due by 4:00 p.m. on March 20 and may be dropped off or mailed to Clinton Lake Project Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, 872 N. 1402 Rd., Lawrence, KS 66049.
