Firewood Ban

Published Aug. 31, 2012

Beginning Aug. 31, 2012, visitors can not transport firwood to Perry Lake that did not originate from Jefferson County, Kan. The reason for the restriction is that there are destructive insects called the Emerald Ash Borer that kills all species of ash trees. The insect has been moving across the country via firewood that is transported to campgrounds. The Emerald Ash Borer has been found in Parkville, Mo., and Wyandotte County, Kan. Because of the danger with this insect, we are asking that you only burn local, Jefferson County, firewood at Perry Lake.

Save our Woodlands - Don't Move Firewood and Spread the Infestation. Spread the Word! Ask a Park Ranger if you would like more information or visit the website at www.emeraldashborer.info.
