Published April 13, 2012

LAWRENCE, Kan.— The Clinton Lake Cleanup Committee, in conjunction with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, and the Clinton Marina, would like to invite all interested groups and individuals to participate in the 29th Annual Clinton Lake Cleanup.

This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration begins at 9:00 at Shelter #1 in the Overlook Park located at the north end of Clinton Dam.

A free hot dog lunch will be provided for all volunteers. Information on recycling, environmental booths, a weird trash contest, cash for trash prizes, and a possible visit by Woodsy Owl are planned. We will have the Clinton Lake Cleanup, rain or shine, but if the weather is really bad, listen to KLWN 1320 AM or call the Clinton Lake U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Office for details.

Over the past 28 years, more than 9,000 volunteers have helped Clinton Lake maintain its beauty by ridding the parks and natural areas of unsightly litter. With more than 1 million visitors each year, support from volunteers is essential in keeping Clinton Lake a prime destination for a variety of outdoor visitors.

For more information on the Clinton Lake Cleanup, or to pre-register you or your group, contact the Clinton Lake Project Office at (785) 843-7665.
