MANHATTAN, Kan. – Looking for a last minute location to camp or BBQ? Tuttle Creek Lake staff are advising visitors that facilities are nearly filled and to prepare for a busy weekend.
As of Wednesday morning the following facilities remain available:
- All utility hook-up campsites have been booked (cancellations are uncommon).
- A handful of primitive campsites remain in all campgrounds except Stockdale Park, and are available on a walk-in basis (no reservations).
- All large picnic shelters have been reserved. A few small, concrete shelters remain available for reservation in Tuttle Creek State Park.
- Picnic tables and pedestal grills are scattered throughout the parks and remain available on a first come, first served basis.
"The weather forecast is beautiful. The lake level is good, and the water is warm," explains Tuttle Creek, Corps of Engineers Park Manager Melissa Bean. "It’ll be a good weekend to visit the lake."
Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead and to keep the safety of family, friends, and others in mind. Remember: life jackets safe lives – wear it!
Due to construction the K-13 Bridge across the gated spillway, the stilling basin or "tubes", and east Outlet Park inclusive of shelters #3, #4 and the west entrance to River Pond are closed. River Pond remains open and accessible to eastbound traffic across the dam crest off K-13.
