KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District is closing USACE-operated facilities due to the shutdown of the federal government for lack of fiscal 2018 funding legislation. We regret the impacts of these required actions on the recreating public, and will make every attempt to inform the public when these facilities reopen.

Affected recreation areas will remain closed until the government shutdown is lifted. This includes all of our visitor facilities, campgrounds, and similar facilities at all 18 of our lake projects. Campers who are on site prior to the shutdown are required to vacate the campground by 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 22. Campers will receive a refund for any unused portion of their stay.

A limited number of personnel, to protect life and property on public lands, will remain on duty. However, offices are minimally staffed or closed. Those offices that remain minimally staffed will not conduct ordinary business and will be available only to assist matters of life and human safety.

The district will post current information on the closure and reopening of facilities on the Kansas City District’s website at www.nwk.usace.army.mil.
