Kanopolis Lake trout fishing access.

Due to an ongoing construction project at the Kanopolis Lake stilling basin, trout stocking and public fishing access at Sand Creek will be modified for the upcoming 2025–2026 fishing season.

The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks manages the trout stocking program, while the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers manage the area.

Stocking Location Update:
Trout will be stocked exclusively in pools near the north access parking lot, located west of the intersection of 29th Road and Avenue R.

Access and Parking:

  • Parking is limited at the north access lot – please do not block gate.
  • Walk-in access to the seep stream is available from the lot.

Anglers are encouraged to plan accordingly and arrive early to secure parking and enjoy the adjusted fishing experience.
