MARQUETTE, Kansas – The annual waterfowl blind drawing held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake has been cancelled for 2025 due to constrained resources and variable water conditions relating to ongoing outlet construction.

The annual event allowed the public to enter a random lottery drawing for 12 waterfowl blind locations. Those who won permits secured the ability to place a blind for more than 24 hours in an assigned area along the shoreline at Kanopolis Lake. This convenience will not be accommodated this year.

Lands owned and managed by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are still open to public hunting and can be accessed by foot or watercraft. Hunters will need to follow all hunting regulations as set forth by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks (KDWP) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding seasons, bag limits, and authorized equipment. State hunting regulations can be found on the KDWP webpage: https://ksoutdoors.gov/Hunting. Area specific regulations for lands managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake can be found on this webpage: https://www.nwk.usace.army.mil/Locations/District-Lakes/Kanopolis-Lake/Maps-Brochures/.
