Bryan A. Smith assumed responsibilities as Deputy District Engineer, Chief, Planning, Programs and Project Management in March 2019.
He is directly responsible for the execution of all program and project management within the district. Responsibilities include support to the Army and Air Force installations within Kansas and Missouri, water resources development in five states of the Missouri River Basin and Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste cleanup work for the Department of Defense and other clients. The Kansas City District boundary covers more than 165,000 square miles, contains 18 lake reservoirs and serves five primary military installations and three Army Ammunitions Plants.
Mr. Smith joined the Corps of Engineers in 1999 and served as a structural engineer on a variety of projects across all programs. He joined Military Programs in 2004 where he worked in a variety of roles thru 2018. During his time in Military programs, he gained temporary experience with Corps Headquarters in 2008 on the Regional Integration Team and temporarily served as Civil Programs Branch Chief in 2011. In 2015 he became the Chief, Military Programs Branch with oversight of program execution in accordance with the district’s Business Quality Processes associated with five primary military customers; Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth, Fort Leonard Wood, Whiteman Air force Base and McConnell Air Force Base.
Mr. Smith is a 1998 graduate of Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. He received his Masters of Civil Engineering from the University of Kansas in 2007. Mr. Smith is a licensed Professional Engineer in the state of Kansas and a Certified Project Management Professional.
