Deputy Commander: Major Paul D. Brownhill

Major Paul (Doug) Brownhill assumed responsibility as the Deputy Commander of the Kansas City District in July 2023. He is a native of Norcross, Georgia. In 2006, he graduated from the University of North Georgia and commissioned into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Maj. Brownhill earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of North Georgia, a Master of Science in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science and Technology in 2013, and Master of Science in Building Construction and Facilities Management in 2016 from the Georgia Institute of Technology. His military education includes the U.S. Army’s Basic Officer Leaders Course, Captain’s Career Course, Advanced Civil Schooling, Training with Industry and the Command and General Staff College.

His previous assignments include Route Clearance Platoon Leader and Battalion Intelligence Officer, 326th Engineer Battalion; Instructor at the Engineer Basic Officer Leaders Course; Company Commander, Bravo Company, 554th Engineer Battalion; Battalion Operations Officer, 2-381st Infantry Battalion; Project Manager, USACE’s Far East District (South Korea); Deputy Chief of Current Operations, 8th Theater Sustainment Command; Brigade Construction Officer, 130th Engineer Brigade; Battalion Executive Officer, 84th Engineer Battalion; and Brigade Executive Officer, 130th Engineer Brigade.

Maj. Brownhill has deployed twice in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom during the “Surge,” deployed to Papua New Guinea in 2021 and to Taiwan in 2023 as the Senior Engineer for USINDOPACOM’s Joint Training Team.

His military awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 oak leaf clusters); the Army Commendation Medal (2 oak leaf clusters); the Army Achievement Medal; Joint Service Achievement Metal; the Valorous Unit Award; the Combat Action Badge; the Pathfinder Badge; the Air Assault Badge and the Bronze Order of the de Fleury.

Maj. Brownhill is married with three children.
