Waterfowl Refuge Closes October 15th
Honker Cove Waterfowl Refuge will be closed October 15 - January 31 to all hunting, boating, fishing, and trapping.

Hunting Season
Hunters may use deer stands on the public hunting ground. However, screw in steps, nails, and tree cutting is strictly prohibited. Deer stands have to be labeled with the owners name, phone number, and conservation number.
Birds at Smithville Lake
Pelicans and cormorants are common around Smithville Lake in September and October.
Bald Eagle
Bald Eagles start to arrive at the lake as temperatures drop and geese start migrating south. You can often see Bald Eagles soaring over the lake or sitting on tree limbs near the shoreline.
