Kanopolis lake hunting equipment permits postponed

MARQUETTE, Kan. – Deer hunting season has begun, and there are some changes to Kanopolis Lake’s normal equipment permitting process. Due to constrained resources and the temporary closure of the project office, hunting equipment permits will not be required for the 2025-2026 deer hunting season. The annual event allowed the public to enter a random lottery drawing for 12 waterfowl blind locations. Those who won permits secured the ability to place a blind for more than 24 hours in an assigned area along the shoreline at Kanopolis Lake. This convenience will not be accommodated this year.
