In an effort to protect the safety of persons and property, Russell County Commission's emergency ordinance has placed a resolution prohibiting the discharge of fireworks in the county. Officials have further issued a burn ban impacting the entirety of Wilson Lake for the following.
  • Corps awards contract for levee repair

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District awarded a contract July 12 for more than $656,000 to repair Missouri River Levee R-440, which lies in both Atchison and Doniphan counties in Kansas.
  • Corps releasing water from Kansas reservoirs to support navigation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Kansas City District has recently begun releasing water from three area lakes in Kansas to provide navigation support on the Missouri River. The Missouri Basin Water Management Office requested on July 9 the Kansas City District begin providing navigation support.
