  • State of Kansas - Proposed In-Lieu Fee Program Service Areas and Instrument Modifications

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Kansas City District is proposing modifications to the In-Lieu Fee (ILF) Program service areas in the State of Kansas. ILF programs are an approved by the Corps as a means of providing compensatory mitigation for Department of the Army permit recipients. Currently, the Sunflower Land Trust (SLT) and the Watershed Land Trust (WLT) are the two approved ILF program sponsors in the State of Kansas. If the proposed service area boundaries are approved, these current ILF sponsors, and any subsequent ILF program sponsors, will be subject to these service area boundaries.

ACTIVITY: The project name provided by the applicant is “Turner Industrial East.” The applicant proposes to place fill materials within 0.88 acres of wetland and 50 linear feet of an ephemeral stream channel to develop an approximate 122-acre, mostly agricultural site, for the construction of 4 industrial warehouses.

ACTIVITY: The applicant is proposing to place fill material within 1,022 linear feet of ephemeral tributary for the continued construction of the Kansas City International Airport (KCI) Intermodal Business Centre on an approximate 260-acre parcel of land.
