The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at the Perry Lake Project will soon begin boundary line maintenance work in the Jefferson County area.

Maintenance crews will treat approximately 12 miles of the Perry Lake Project boundary beginning in December with a scheduled completion date of March 31, 2020.  Commercial Diving International Services LLC from Santa Rosa Beach, Florida was awarded the contract for this work.

Boundary line maintenance involves crews replacing damaged or missing boundary signs and posts and clearing brush and small trees from an area five feet wide on the public property side of the boundary line. Trees larger than 6” in diameter will not be removed; however they will be limbed up to a height of 8’.

This contract work is necessary to maintain a visible and distinct boundary line between public and private property.  A definitive boundary prevents unintentional encroachments onto public lands by adjacent private property owners and unintentional trespass onto private property by public land visitors. Expect to see individuals on foot using land clearing equipment that includes weed clippers, chainsaws, brush cutters etc.  Herbicide will also be applied.

Projected work involves the boundary line along multiple subdivisions: these include Hickory Acres, Lakeside Village, Lakewood Hills, Lakeshore Estates, Westshore Estates, Hilldale North/South, Lake Ridge Estates and Wind N Wave.
