  • Applications now open for waterfowl blind permits at Kanopolis Lake

    Online applications for the 2023 annual waterfowl blind permits at Kanopolis Lake, Marquette, Kansas, are now available. The permit application is now available online for applicants to fill out and submit. Applicants will be entered into a random lottery drawing for 12 waterfowl blind locations on Kanopolis Lake, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers land.
  • Kanopolis Lake drawdown will begin end of December

    A 3-foot drawdown of reservoir levels at Kanopolis Lake, near Kanopolis, Kansas, will begin starting the week of Dec. 19, 2022, as conditions allow, in preparation for the Kanopolis Riprap Overlay Project. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is doing this project to provide placement of necessary riprap that will protect the dam from wind and wave erosion. To safely and accurately complete the required riprap placements, the pool elevation will be drawn down 3 feet through outflows less than 500 cubic feet per second to achieve a target pool elevation of 1,460.0 feet.
  • USACE-issued hunting equipment permits required at Kanopolis Lake Project

    USACE-issued hunting equipment permits will be available at Kanopolis Lake for the 2022-2023 hunting season. The free permit allows individuals to keep privately owned tree stands, blinds, and game cameras for more than a 24-hour period on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers public access areas at Kanopolis Lake. 
  • Kanopolis waterfowl blind permit applications available

    Virtual permits for annual waterfowl blind permits are now available for Kanopolis Lake, in Marquette, Kansas. This event will be a virtual application process, done completely online. The random lottery drawing will be held by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kanopolis Lake staff to determine order of site selection and permit application for 12 waterfowl blind locations. 
  • USACE issued physical permits not required for hunting equipment at Kanopolis

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Kanopolis Lake will not be issuing Hunting Equipment Permits this hunting season due to COVID-19 concerns. The Hunting Equipment Permit Program hunting policies and regulations still apply with the only change of not requiring the physical permit tag.
