  • Once-in-a-generation Missouri River study seeks public input

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Kansas City District and Omaha District, announced today it will host a series of public meetings to provide updates and gather public input on the Lower Missouri River Basin Flood Risk and Resiliency Study. The study is a comprehensive effort to analyze and recommend improvements for flood risk management and other water resource-related issues along the 498 miles of the Lower Missouri River. This initiative was prompted by the historic and devastating flooding of 2019. That event resulted in record runoff and billions of dollars in damage across the region.

    Officials will hold a public meeting for the Lower Missouri River Jefferson City spin-off study on September 26, 2024, in Jefferson City, Missouri. The meeting, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will present all study information up to this point and make sure all stakeholders know the information available regarding what alternatives have federal interest, and what the schedule looks like for the study going forward.
  • USACE and MDNR to meet with public to provide update on Holt/Doniphan County Flood Risk Management Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources are hosting a public meeting to update the citizens of Holt County, Missouri, and Doniphan County, Kansas, about progress on the flood risk management study since April. The meeting is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8. It will be held at the Loess Hills Lodge, 406 State Street, Mound City, Missouri.
  • Team holds meetings across the region for Lower Missouri River system plan

    Officials will hold a series of public meeting for the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study, also known as the system plan, throughout the region in April. The meetings, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the study, a status update, input on reach measures, flow and stage frequency analysis update and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri Flood Risk and Resiliency Study.

This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions and provide input regarding the Lower Missouri River Holt County and Doniphan County spin-off study.
