The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and partners announce public meeting for Little Blue River Basin Study

    The Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its partners will hold a public meeting on Sept. 23, 2025, to share findings and gather public input on the Little Blue River Basin Flood Risk and Ecosystem Restoration Study. The cities of Blue Springs, Grandview, Independence, Kansas City, Missouri, Lee’s Summit and Raytown, and Jackson County are conducting the Little Blue River Basin Study with the help of USACE and the Mid-America Regional Council.

  • Public invited to attend meeting for Jefferson City spin-off study draft report

    Officials will hold a public meeting for the Lower Missouri Jefferson City spin-off study draft report on Jan. 8, 2025, in Jefferson City, Missouri. The meeting, which will be held by the Kansas City District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, will provide an overview of the spin-off study draft report and an open discussion. This is an opportunity for the public to ask questions regarding the Lower Missouri Jefferson City spin-off study.

  • Tuttle Creek Lake closing in on conservation pool water level

    For the first time since February 6, 2019, the water level Tuttle Creek Lake is approaching conservation – or normal – pool. This has been the longest water storage event ever at the lake lasting about 275 days. The lake level is currently at elevation 1075.04 feet above mean sea level, only 0.04 feet from reaching conservation pool, which will occur later today – Tuesday, December 10, 2019.

  • Public meeting to discuss high water levels at Tuttle Creek Lake

    Due to above average water levels being held in Tuttle Creek Lake, the Kansas City District and lake project personnel will hold a public meeting at the Manhattan Fire Station in Manhattan, Kan. from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2019.   • Truman Dam functioning as designed: Open House Wednesday, March 13

    Harry S. Truman dam is functioning as designed and is not currently at risk of a structural failure or overtopping. There are no anticipated changes to routine operations and maintenance activities due to the new dam safety classification. No structural repairs are currently planned or deemed warranted at this time to lessen the overall dam safety risk.
